A 72,000-acre wildfire in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties was sending smoke south to San Diego County, forecasters said.
A smoke haze from the Gifford Fire and other nearby fires was visible in parts of San Diego County on Tuesday and was expected to linger for the next few days, the National Weather Service forecasted.
No Air Quality Alerts were issued for San Diego County, but areas directly to our north were being monitored. The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District indicated conditions were moderate with the main pollutant being fine particles, PM 2.5, which can easily be inhaled and pose the greatest risk to health, according to the Environmental Protection Agency .
