SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- A widespread power outage cut service to thousands of customers and forced the closure of several schools in the San Bernardino area on Tuesday.
According to Jeff Monford, a spokesman for Southern California Edison, all power was restored by about noon.
A locomotive struck grid equipment around 5 a.m., resulting in a power outage affecting approximately 17,000 customers, according to Monford.
The San Bernardino City Unified School District later reported that several schools would be closed on Tuesday due to the outage. The following campuses were impacted:

Shandin Hills
Kendall Complex
Holcomb
Hillside
North Park
Cajon HS
Palm
Vermont
North Verdemont
Kimbark
Newmark
