PITTSBURGH (WKBN) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Cam Sanders from Triple-A Indianapolis.
His first appearance would mark his Major League debut.
In a corresponding roster move, the Pirates optioned pitcher Johan Oviedo to Triple-A Indianapolis.
The 28-year-old Sanders has split the season between Triple-A and Double-A. He is a combined 4-1 with a 1.91 ERA in 33 appearances.
Sanders signed with Pittsburgh as a minor league free agent last offseason. He was originally a 12th-round selection by the Chicago Cubs in the 2018 MLB draft.
He spent the last three seasons at Triple-A Iowa in the Cubs organization.
