A 29-year-old man was arrested Monday in a Denver hit-and-run that killed one person and injured another on a northbound Interstate 25 ramp, police said.

Jeffery Alvarez was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident involving death, both felonies, the Denver Police Department said in a Monday update .

Officers responded to the crash on the northbound I-25 ramp at Speer Boulevard early Saturday morning.

The driver, whom police believe to be Alvarez, crashed into a car, flipped his vehicle on the ramp and ran from the scene . A passenger in that vehicle was found injured several blocks away and later died from their injuries, police said.

Paramedics took one person in the car that was hit to the hospital with minor injuries.
