The Chicago Cubs have placed right-handed pitcher Michael Soroka on the 15-day injured list.
Soroka, who was forced to leave his Monday start against the Cincinnati Reds, was diagnosed with a right shoulder strain, and will miss several starts at minimum for the North Siders.
After being acquired before the Thursday trade deadline, Soroka made his Cubs debut on Monday, giving up a solo home run and striking out three batters before being removed from the game after the top of the second inning.
In a corresponding roster move, the Cubs recalled pitcher Nate Pearson from Triple-A Iowa. Pearson has a 3-2 record and a 2.27 ERA in 31 appearances with the Iowa Cubs this season. He has appeared in nine games for the big-league Cubs, with a 12.66 ERA, giving up 15 earned runs in 10 innings of
