A search mounted Tuesday for someone who was heard crying out for help along a canyon trail in the Tarzana area was ended with no victim found.
Ground and air units from the Los Angeles Fire Department scoured an area of remote terrain along the Caballero Canyon Trail north of Mulholland Drive, according to department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The search was launched at about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday after a mountain biker heard what sounded like an “older person” calling out for help.
By 9:45 a.m., Humphrey said “a comprehensive and systematic search” turned up no one and the search was concluded.
“No other hiker or mountain bicyclist in the vicinity has reported hearing or knowing of a person in distress, and the LAFD has received no reports of any person missing in the area,” he said.
