Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital wrapped up the 40th annual Junior Wheelchair Sports Camp last week, celebrating four decades of empowering youth with physical disabilities through sport and recreation.

Held July 21–25 at the UCSB Recreation Center, the camp welcomed 40 campers and over 75 volunteers for a week of adaptive sports, mentorship, and community.

Campers aged 6 to 21 participated in activities including wheelchair basketball, rugby, hand cycling, SCUBA diving, swimming, fencing, rock climbing, and more. For many, it was their first time trying these sports, guided by trained coaches and volunteers — many of whom use wheelchairs themselves, organizers reported.
