FALLS CHURCH, Va (DC News Now) -- The Fairfax County Public School District (FCPS) is looking for a bodyguard for Superintendent Michelle Reid.

The position pays between $84,000 to nearly $144,000, depending on experience - something some county residents believe is not a good use of funds.

"I thought it was ridiculous," Mitch Lahr said. "There's violence everywhere. What? Everyone should have a personal security guard?"

Lahr said he sees a better use of the money in something else.

"The money should go towards teachers and towards assisting the children that need help," Lahr said. "Not security for the superintendent."

The superintendent's aide was not able to tell DC News Now if any threats have been made against her.
