INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana is known for basketball and the overwhelming desire to grow women's sports. The state has long staked its claim and now the Special Olympics is following suit.
Special Olympics North America is hosting a professional development conference for Special Olympics staff from across the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. There are about a thousand Special Olympics staff staying in Indianapolis this week.
In conjunction with this conference, Special Olympics is hosting the first ever 3x3 women's basketball tournament. Nine teams are in Indianapolis for this event from Southern California, Delaware, North Carolina, Michigan, two teams from Indiana, and even teams from Canada and Jamaica are represented.
