Hundreds of LAUSD teachers and others participated in a march and rally Saturday, calling for the district to take a more aggressive stand in supporting immigrant families and students who are in the country without proper immigration documentation, the L.A. Times reported . Participants, which included members of United Teachers Los Angeles, called for the district to engage in court battles with the federal government to protect immigrant rights, establish a two-block perimeter around schools that federal immigration agents would be barred from entering, and establish a campaign to update emergency contact information.
