Democrats will see no reduction in their advantage in Delaware's state house after Alonna Berry won a tight special election in District 20.

The race to replace Stell Parker Selby, who never appeared during this year's legislative session, was a contentious race between Berry and Republican Nikki Miller, and that showed at the polls.

Berry received 50.6% of the vote, defeating Miller 4,653-4,532.

District 20 represents most of the Lewes and Milton areas, and has often led to tight elections.

Selby defeated Miller in 2024's general election with 50.7% of the vote, winning that race 8,857-8,612.

Selby's victory in 2022 over Dallas Wingate came with 51.4% support.

Democrats will hold their 27-14 advantage in the larger of the two chambers of Delaware's legislature.
