Police are investigating a report of shots fired and a nearby crash as related incidents in New Castle County on Tuesday, officials said.

Officers with the New Castle County Police Department were called to the 3000 block of Stone Place in Newark for a reported shots fired situation around 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 5, officials said.

NBC10 arrived at the scene at around 11 p.m. to find the investigation ongoing, with police tape blocking off sections of the apartment complex there.

Additionally, officials also say a crash that happened near South Chapel and West Chestnut Hill Roads (Routes 4 and 72) in Brookside is related to the shooting incident.

A police car was not involved in the crash, officials added.
