EVERETT — One Lynnwood City Council incumbent appeared Tuesday to be heading to the general election, while a race for another seat remains too close to call, according to initial primary results.

Position 1

Incumbent Derica Escamilla and challenger Dio Boucsieguez seemed set to advance in the Position 1 race.

Escamilla took an early lead with 46% of the vote. Tuesday was Escamilla’s first election, as she was appointed to the City Council in July 2024. In a May interview with The Daily Herald, she said she wants to continue the positive change she’s made during her time on the council so far. She prioritized supporting law enforcement officers, improving infrastructure and advocating for transparency between the council and the public.
