Mercury contamination is growing in northern Minnesota’s lakes, MPR News says.

They report: “Hundreds of lakes across the North Woods are contaminated with mercury, including those in protected areas like the Boundary Waters… In the Boundary Waters, more than 100 lakes are considered impaired because of mercury levels that lead to limits on fish consumption.”

The City of Minneapolis has boosted protections for formerly incarcerated people, according to KSTP.

They write: “The City of Minneapolis is bolstering civil rights protections under an amended ordinance by banning discrimination based on criminal history… It bolsters protections for formerly incarcerated people to get housing, education and employment.”

A local train service will be going through a big transition next year.
