Leading regulators and industry executives agreed that increased collaboration is the only way that states can stem the flood of counterfeit and illegal synthetic drugs being sold to consumers covertly on the internet.
New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella, the president of the National Association of Attorneys General, hosted a two-day conference at the AC Hotel Portsmouth on fighting illegal drug sales.
Formella said the meeting was meant to build on the multi-state cases that resulted in opioid manufacturers settling a class action lawsuit with AGs for $26 billion in 2021.
“As long as it’s still available we are going to deal with (social media) platforms that are the modern-day street corners,” said Tom Galvin, executive director with the Digital Citizens Alliance.
