A plea hearing date has been set for a man charged with murder after a 20-year-old was stabbed to death at Mill Park, Cambridge . Chas Corrigan, 21, of Holbrook Road in Cambridge, is suspected of killing Mohammed Algasim in an attack on Friday (August 1).

At Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday morning (August 6), Judge Mark Bishop told Corrigan that he will be remanded in custody and return to court for an arraignment hearing on September 8. On this date, the defendant will enter a plea and a timetable for the trial will be laid out.

The judge set a provisional start date for the trial as February 9, 2026. The prosecution lawyer, Gavin Burrell, also appeared at Wednesday's hearing, alongside defence lawyer Shahnawaz Khan.
