LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Attorneys for former Kentucky sheriff Shawn "Mickey" Stines have filed a motion to unseal a previously ordered psychological evaluation.
The former Letcher County sheriff is accused of shooting and killing Judge Kevin Mullins on Sept. 19, 2024.
According to the motion filed, a psychological evaluation was conducted and sealed by the court. The motion notes that the contents of the assessment are directly relevant to issues expected to be raised at an upcoming evidentiary hearing on Aug. 15.
FOX 56 previously reported that, after pleading not guilty, Stines could face the death penalty if convicted.
