NBC6 received several calls about conditions inside the state facility known as "Alligator Alcatraz" on Wednesday night, claiming to have been about an altercation.

We've confirmed at least one of those calls came from inside the facility.

"Look, us here, we can't do anything, we need help from outside, because they're abusing them ma'am, they're abusing them and that's not right," a frantic caller told NBC6 in Spanish over the phone.

The callers said at least two detainees were injured during an altercation in the dining room. NBC6 is working to verify other calls, some placed by people claiming to be family members of detainees, and the reports about the altercation.

NBC6 has been hearing complaints about the conditions at the detention facility since it opened in early July.
