NEWBERN, Tenn. (WREG) — The funeral for James Matthew Wilson was held Tuesday, the same day as his alleged killer Austin Drummond was captured in Jackson.

Family and friends gathered at the Johnson-Williams Funeral Home to honor the memory of 21-year-old James Matthew Wilson, known to many as Matthew.

Wilson was the father of the baby who was found in front of a house in Dyer County.

“He was a devoted father and would do anything to take care of his child and family. Matthew's quick wit and infectious smile lit up any room he walked into. Growing up with him was an adventure, he was always there whether to offer a helping hand or to provide a shoulder to lean on. Though his time with us was cut short, the impact he made on us will last forever," his obituary stated.
