A Central Iowan can now claim the title of World Champion. Soon, he'll be getting back to slamming down some steaks.
Sunday in Finland, Urbandale native Gannon Buhr claimed the title of 2025 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Champion. It is his fourth career major championship. The World Championship was held outside of North America for the first time in the sport's history.
The five-round event, hosted in Nokia, Finland, drew more than 25,000 spectators and showcased the global growth of disc golf. Buhr, the current No. 1 ranked player in the world, took home a $20,000 prize with the win, adding to his growing list of career achievements.
