OCEAN CITY, Md. — A Virginia Beach boat is making headlines at the 2025 White Marlin Open, thanks to a tuna catch now leading its division and valued at $1.8 million.

The Mama C , based out of Virginia Beach, weighed in a 95-pound tuna on Wednesday. The fish was caught by angler Tommy Farella of New Smyrna, Florida, and now tops the tuna division in the world's largest billfish tournament.

The catch came on a busy day, with 212 of the 282 registered boats out fishing. Despite the activity, no fish came close to dethroning the tournament’s current overall leader, a 929.5-pound blue marlin caught Monday by the Barbara B out of Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. That fish remains unmatched and is still worth $4.4 million.
