Republican candidate for Alabama secretary of state Caroleene Dobson raised about $116,000 for her campaign in July, ending the month with about $600,500 on hand, according to recent campaign finance reports.

She kicked off fundraising in June with a $500,000 loan to her campaign.

Andrew Sorrell, the current state auditor who announced his SOS bid early this year, raised about $34,200 last month and had about $309,000 on hand at the end of July.

Sorrell last month asked Dobson, an attorney who ran for Congress in 2024, to join him in pledging to run a clean campaign and avoid negative attacks.

Sorrell was more recently identified as one of several politicians in multiple states who received and exchanged funds with entities in what investigators have called a Georgia-based Ponzi schem
