A family from Leicestershire have been left stranded in Greece after their critically ill brother's travel insurance was declared void.

The Vorrias family was holidaying on the Greek island of Zakynthos when Elias Vorrias became ill.

The day he was due to fly home, the 47-year-old German shepherd breeder was sunbathing when he started feeling "a bit shivery" with an "icky tummy."

He was left unable to breathe and was "struggling to get off the bed" by the afternoon, forcing the family to call an emergency ambulance.

Elias was then rushed to a medical centre and then transferred the same day to Zakynthos General Hospital.
