After completing their shopping spree in the bullpen, the Mets pivoted to the offense, adding Cedric Mullins from the Orioles. Three right-handed relief prospects—Raimon Gomez, Anthony Nunez, and Chandler Marsh—headed back to Baltimore in exchange for their long-time center fielder.
If there was a theme to the moves the Mets made in the bullpen, it was a pursuit of upside. Gregory Soto is highly volatile and capable of ripping off 20 innings of elite ball if things go right. Tyler Rogers is criminally underrated as one of the best arms in the majors. Helsley is rightfully regarded as one of those top-tier arms. Whether they were finding good value or playing at the top-end of the market, every pitcher they acquired has at least a chance to be a high-leverage piece.
