After 17 long years, Hulu is riding off into the sunset.

It won’t disappear completely, however. This is more a story of change than of death.

In their quarterly earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that the company would be " fully integrating Hulu into Disney+ ," with the purpose to “create an impressive package of entertainment, pairing the highest-caliber brands and franchises, great general entertainment, family programming, news, and industry-leading live sports content in a single app.”

In other words, Hulu, which is owned entirely by Disney , will become a part of Disney+. The two will no longer serve as sister services with overlapping content. Part of the company’s plan involves replacing the Star Wars franchise tab in the Disney+ app with the Hulu logo, making
