TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Actress Christina Applegate said that she had been hospitalized with an infection that spread to both kidneys.

The "Married… with Children" and "Dead to Me" star, who is battling multiple sclerosis, shared the news in an Aug. 5 episode of her "MeSsy" podcast with Jamie-Lynn Sigler from a hospital in Los Angeles.

Applegate said she began feeling unwell on a European trip with her family and decided to go straight to the emergency room once she arrived in the U.S.

She said she experienced "a pain that I've never felt before on my right side," which was so intense that she was "screaming."

“I'm like, I wanna be admitted,” Applegate said. "I'm staying here because I want answers."

After an emergency CT scan, doctors diagnosed Applegate with a kidney infection.
