AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Community College District (ACC) said every campus would have an open food pantry beginning this fall.
ACC said the Riverbat Bites Food Pantries provide groceries, snacks and hygiene items. All items would be available for free, according to the college.
“Every year, ACC serves more than 74,000 students. Many are the first in their families to attend college. More than 60% are classified as low-income and must balance school with work, caregiving, or other responsibilities,” ACC said. “The Riverbat Bites expansion is part of a broader collegewide effort to remove barriers and create pathways to academic and career success.”
According to ACC, students can check in using their student ID to obtain items.
