VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV) - A man shot and killed by a deputy in downtown Vancouver last week has been identified.
The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as 36-year-old Branden Michael Whitcomb.
The shooting happened on the evening of July 30 after authorities responded to a 911 call from parents reporting their son, who was reportedly armed, had broken into their home, was high on meth, had been drinking, and was threatening to kill them.
Whitcomb left the home on a bike and was found minutes later near Main Street and East 19th Street in downtown Vancouver. A deputy radioed that he still had the gun on him.
At some point during the incident, a deputy shot Whitcomb. No word yet from investigators on why the deputy fired.
