At least one person is dead at Fort Stewart after a gunman opened fire at the Army base Wednesday morning.
Parts of the army base went on lockdown Wednesday at 11:04 a.m. due to reports of an active shooter in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area. Law enforcement are on the scene.
"Lockdown your facility immediately, stay inside, close and lock all windows and doors," the Commander said in a Hunter Army Airfield Facebook post . "Keep telephone lines open and report accountability to your leadership."
