At least one person has been killed on Fort Stewart after an active shooter was confirmed this morning, according to a military public affairs officer.

Parts of the army base went on lockdown Wednesday at 11:04 a.m. due to reports of an active shooter in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area. Law enforcement are on the scene.

It's unclear how many victims there are at this time.

The Commander issued the lockdown for Wright and Evans Army Airfield as well.

"Lockdown your facility immediately, stay inside, close and lock all windows and doors," the Commander said in a Hunter Army Airfield Facebook post . "Keep telephone lines open and report accountability to your leadership."

All gates on Fort Stewart were closed as a result of the incident.
