BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - The Brazos County Commissioners Court voted to renew the Interlocal Coordination Contract on Tuesday. The contract unifies Brazos County and the Texas Department of Public Safety ( DPS ) in expediting lab drug tests.
“This Interlocal agreement allows two drug chemists to be essentially specially assigned to Brazos County cases, and they work those cases first and they’re a priority,” explained District Attorney Jarvis Parsons. “Instead of eight months to or nine months, it takes about 30 days to get the results back.”
Parsons said more than half of the cases the District Attorney’s office take on are related to drugs and alcohol offenses.
