Five U.S. Army soldiers were wounded in a shooting at Fort Stewart in Georgia on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
All five victims were treated on-site and are recovering at Winn Army Community Hospital on the base, according to a post on the base’s Facebook page. The victims have not been publicly identified.
The shooter was captured at the scene just over 30 minutes after the gunfire first erupted, the military said. The attacker was not immediately identified.
Reports of a shooting at the base about 35 miles southwest of Savannah first came in at 10:56 a.m., according to authorities. The base, which houses 10,000 people, was locked down at 11:04 a.m.
