On August 5, BET CEO Scott Mills confirmed that the BET Hip Hop Awards, which started in 2006, and the Soul Train Awards, which launched on BET in 2009, have been put on hiatus indefinitely. “For BET linear, we have suspended the Soul Train and Hip-Hop awards shows,” Mills shared in a candid interview with Billboard magazine.
