Some of state's cannabis dispensaries have an uncertain future due to a government error. The state mistakenly awarded licenses to some dispensaries that are closer to a school or a house of worship than is allowed by law.

Dispensaries are not allowed to be located within 500 feet of the property line of a school, or within 200 feet of the property line of a house of worship. The licenses in question were mistakenly awarded based on measurements from the school and churches entrances, not property lines. As a result, these dispensaries are technically illegal.

The state is looking to remedy this error, and in a statement, the Office of Cannabis Management said many stores' futures are now in limbo.
