Huskers open season at No. 1 in AVCA preseason poll

LINCOLN, Neb. —

Nebraska volleyball opens the first season under coach Dani Busboom Kelly at No. 1.

The Huskers received 40 first-place votes in the AVCA preseason poll .

Kelly said she's not surprised : "We're talented."

Penn State had 21 first-place votes, ranking No. 2 in the poll. Pittsburgh, Louisville and Texas rounded out the top five.

Creighton, led by first-year head coach Brian Rosen, opens the season at No. 12.

Five Big Ten teams are ranked in the preseason poll, including NU and PSU.
