FORT STEWART, Ga. — After five soldiers were shot in an "active shooter incident" on Fort Stewart in Georgia on Wednesday morning, an Army general said all soldiers are expected to survive.
Two of the wounded soldiers were taken to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, according to the hospital. The other three wounded soldiers are being treated at the Winn Army Community Hospital.
Officials said law enforcement was dispatched to the incident at 10:56 a.m. and the shooter was apprehended at 11:35 a.m.
Brig. Gen. John Lubas, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division and Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield, said in a press conference Wednesday that the suspected shooter is identified as Army Sgt. Quornelius Radford.
He is in custody and charges are pending.
