FORT STEWART, Ga. — The suspect in the shooting at Fort Stewart in Georgia that injured five soldiers has been identified as a male Army sergeant.

Brig. Gen. John Lubas, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, addressed the public with a press conference Wednesday afternoon. He confirmed that the suspect accused of opening fire at the base is named Quornelius Radford.

Radford was at his place of work on base when he opened fire on his fellow soldiers, who were his coworkers, Lubas said. Soldiers tackled him and stopped further casualties.

Lubas identified Radford as a logistics sergeant who had not seen active combat. He said Radford was previously charged with a DUI near Fort Stewart, but that his superiors were not aware.
