Sentencing is on hold for a bold retail theft ring that targeted 200 Home Depot stores in multiple counties across the greater Bay Area.
Two members of the four-man crew were slated to be sentenced Wednesday in Santa Clara County court under a new law targeting organized retail theft.
The crew consists of Adolfo Herrera of Richmond, Wilmer Ayala of South San Francisco, and Daniel Resendiz and Jose Martinez, both of San Leandro.
The thieves simply walked into the stores, grabbed items and walked out. They did it more than 200 times. One of the men already had been on probation for stealing from Home Depot stores.
The thieves made away with more than $110,000 worth of tools between January and April from the home improvement stores, some of which were hit repeatedly. An Emeryville store
