Gov. Mike Braun has selected a former Valparaiso mayor to serve on a new state commission focused on developing a more robust relationship with Ireland, the Hoosier State's largest international trading partner.

Republican Matt Murphy is among seven individuals recently appointed by the Republican chief executive to the Indiana-Ireland Trade Commission, established this year by House Enrolled Act 1489 .

They, along with four individuals chosen by the Republican and Democratic leaders of the Indiana House and Senate, are tasked with finding ways to promote trade, mutual development and business and academic exchanges between Indiana and Ireland over at least the next four years.
