Authorities publicly identified a man who was fatally shot last weekend inside a building in the Gaslamp Quarter after patronizing its rooftop bar, officials said Wednesday.

Patrol officers responding to reports of gunfire at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday found Antwan Bluthenthal, 46, mortally wounded in a third-floor hallway of a building at 701 Sixth Ave., according to the San Diego Police Department.

Bluthenthal died at the scene, SDPD Lt. Lou Maggi said.

When police arrived at the address, several people were on a sidewalk detaining 37-year-old Bryan Tyner, whom they identified as the shooter, and they directed officers to a handgun they reportedly had taken from him.

Tyner was arrested on suspicion of murder and was expected in court on Wednesday.
