The ground game continues to be a dominant, guiding force in Southwest Virginia high school football, and this season’s crop of running backs aim to carry on that tradition.

From workhorses to two-back systems to pass-game complements, these ball carriers take on a range of roles that help fuel offenses and pound defenses into submission. Numerous tailbacks have gone on to play in the Division I ranks, and several athletes this season are slated to take the same path.
