The Big Horn County Sheriff's Office announced the recovery of the body of an 82-year-old man who went missing in the Bighorn River on July 26.

Authorities found the body of Big Horn County resident Alan Shaw on Monday, Aug. 4 around 1:30 p.m. from the river. Big Horn County coroner Rick Kruger confirmed the man died from drowning.

According to reporting from KTVQ , two men were travelling down Bighorn River near Mallard’s Landing Fishing Access, roughly a dozen miles south of Hardin, when their boat flipped.

One man swam to the shore and survived. Shaw, however, was swept by currents until he was found more than a week later, after multiple agencies became involved in search and rescue efforts.
