A Taiwanese restaurant chain has officially closed one of its Richmond locations after more than 15 years.

Pearl Castle Cafe's CF Richmond Centre location has been serving the community a variety of Taiwanese dishes like popcorn chicken, beef noodle soup and bubble tea since 2009.

On Aug. 2, the chain announced that it is a "little bittersweet to say goodbye" to its mall location, citing that its business lease is due to expire.

Pearl Castle was established in 1996 by owner Jimmy Chen to introduce Taiwanese tea with fresh-made pearls and further expanded to a restaurant and cafe business a year later in Parker Place.

The restaurant then moved to Continental Plaza before opening more restaurants
