A 10-year veteran who has made the Pro Bowl three times, newly re-signed Titans safety Quandre Diggs brings an impressive resume into his second season in Nashville.

Still, it seems a stretch to think the Titans definitely would have signed Diggs without the connection to his cousin, Tennessee quarterback Cam Ward.

After all, the Titans already had two experienced starting safeties on the roster in Amani Hooker and Xavier Woods, as well as a promising third-round pick, Kevin Winston Jr., and an experienced role player in Mike Brown.

Were they really in need of a 32-year-old safety, one who — after playing well in the first eight games of the 2024 season — wound up needing surgery to repair the Lisfranc left foot injury he suffered last November?
