Montana State Sen. Barry Usher, a Yellowstone County Republican, will lead a national organization that represents thousands of legislators and staffers from every state in the country.

Usher, whose Senate District 19 includes Lewistown, Winifred, Roundup and parts of rural Yellowstone County, was named president-elect of the National Conference of State Legislatures. He was the organization's vice president for the past year after being elected at last year’s NCSL meeting..

Vice presidents of the organization automatically ascend to president-elect, according to NCSL.
