More than 60 Kent neighborhoods participated Aug. 5 in the annual National Night Out when residents gather with each other and Kent Police officers to help find ways to curtail crime.

“The food was great, the games were fun and the fellowship was amazing,” according to a Kent Police post on Facebook.

The gatherings included neighborhoods that have participated for many years as well as first-time participants.

“For some of you this was your first National Night Out event and we applaud you for reaching out to the Kent Police Department and your neighbors to build connections,” according to police. “For many of you National Night Out has been a tradition for decades and we truly appreciate your continued efforts to partner with us in building community-police relationships.”
