U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., is leading a Senate Democratic request for a Washington, D.C., think tank to come up with a report on the impact of Republican-led cuts to Medicaid and changes to the Affordable Care Act in the “big beautiful bill” President Trump signed last month.
Meanwhile, the New Hampshire Fiscal Policy Institute (NHFPI), a non-partisan budget watchdog group, issued its own report on the new law, concluding 20,000 residents could lose Medicaid due to federal work requirements and warning that cuts in state provider tax schemes could cost the state more than $133 million in lost revenue.
