TOWSON, Md. —

Two years ago, ahead of the 2023 football season, Towson hired Pete Shinnick to lead their program.

The Tigers went 5-6 overall and 4-4 in Coastal Athletic Association play. The next season, Towson went 7-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play.

Not only did the team improve in Shinnick's second season, the Tigers finished strong, winning four of the last five games.

"I thought we were playing really good football. So, to get our guys in that mindset when we came back from Christmas break and to say, 'OK, January, here's what we need. Here's what has worked for us, here is what hasn't worked for us," Shinnick said.

The CAA preseason poll has Towson finishing sixth in the conference out of 14 teams — a bit low for a team with championship aspirations.
