WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WETM) -- People arrived at Watkins Glen International on Wednesday, filling up the campgrounds area after having traveled long distances for the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series, Go Bowling at The Glen.

People were setting up tents and walking around the grounds on Wednesday, August 6, enjoying the remaining quiet days before the races take over at the track. Long-time race attendee Destry Pittlock, of more than 30 years, came from Sheffield, Pennsylvania, and arrived at the track at 3 a.m. He describes the event as the most enjoyable part of the summer.

"The whole experience of everything, the camaraderie with the people that you camp by for years and years and years, the friendships you make, and the racing is excellent," Pittlock said. "You can't beat the racing."
