Little Rock’s Park Plaza Mall will soon house a police station, with plans to open ahead of the holiday shopping season.
The mall has seen its share of violent crime. In January, a gunman killed 47-year-old Cynthia Gregory, a fundraising officer for Baptist Health Foundation , less than two months after another shooter wounded two people on Black Friday.
Officially called a “public safety annex,” Little Rock Police Department officers will be stationed in a 500-square-foot space on the mall’s second floor set to open in six to eight weeks. The LRPD outpost will include a workspace and parking lot designated for first responders, according to a press release.
